Can't connect to the cameraUpdated 2 months ago

Important to know

You do not need to connect to the dash cam every time you drive.
The camera records automatically on its own.

You only need to connect when:

  • Reviewing or downloading footage

  • Changing camera settings

If you’re having trouble connecting, work through the steps below in order.

Step 1: Check the camera Wi-Fi status

Look at the Wi-Fi indicator light on the camera.

  • Blinking Wi-Fi light
The camera is broadcasting its Wi-Fi network and is ready to connect.

  • Wi-Fi light not blinking
Remove the SD card from the camera and check again.

If the Wi-Fi light starts blinking once the SD card is removed, this usually means the SD card is corrupted and needs to be reformatted or replaced.

Step 2: Your phone may be connecting to your car instead

Most modern vehicles broadcast their own Wi-Fi network for Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. Phones often prioritise this over the dash cam.

Please do the following:

  1. Go to your phone’s Wi-Fi settings

  2. Locate your vehicle’s Wi-Fi network

  3. Disable Auto Join for that network

  4. Manually connect to the dash cam’s Wi-Fi

This is one of the most common reasons the camera appears not to connect.

Step 3: Check if the Wi-Fi password was changed

If you have ever changed the Wi-Fi password in the camera settings, your phone may still be trying to connect using the old password.

To fix this:

  1. Go to your phone’s Wi-Fi settings

  2. Forget the dash cam Wi-Fi network

  3. Reconnect to the dash cam Wi-Fi

  4. Enter the new password you previously set

If you never changed the password, the default is:
12345678

Step 4: Check app permissions

The Viidure app requires all permissions to be allowed.

If you selected Don’t Allow for any permission:

  • The camera may not appear in the app

To fix this:

  1. Uninstall the Viidure app

  2. Reinstall the app

  3. When prompted, allow all permissions (location, nearby devices, Wi-Fi, etc.)

Step 5: Basic connection checks

If you’re still having trouble, try the following:

  • Forget the dash cam Wi-Fi network, then reconnect

  • Make sure no VPN is active on your phone

  • Restart your phone

  • Temporarily disable Bluetooth or briefly enable Airplane Mode, then reconnect

  • Confirm you’re connecting using password 12345678 if unchanged

Step 6: Hardware reset (last step)

If nothing above resolves the issue:

  1. Hold the power button until the camera turns off

  2. Press and hold the power button again for 30 seconds

  3. Forget the dash cam Wi-Fi network on your phone

  4. Reconnect to the dash cam Wi-Fi

  5. Add the camera again inside the Viidure app

Quick reminder

  • You do not need to stay connected while driving

  • The camera records automatically

  • Wi-Fi is only needed for footage access or settings changes
